Dinner today was a bolognese of sorts as I realised when I started preparing it that I didn’t have the right tomatoes!
We’d been out shopping and stopped off in the supermarket for fruit, milk, mushrooms, cheese, a stewpack for tomorrow, and 250g of minced beef (5% fat as recommended by SW).
These are my ingredients:
125 g stick spaghetti .12 *
250g minced beef £1.79
3 large closed cup mushrooms .20 *
1 onion .10 *
1 small carrot .05 *
approx 1/3 each red, green, yellow pepper .30 *
chicken stock cube .03
chicken gravy granules to thicken .05 *
2 gloves garlic .02 *
8 chopped cherry tomatoes .01 *
(the full 250g pack was reduced to 9p on Saturday)
* approximate cost as part of prepacked carton/pack
So, for £2.67p (bargain with the tomatoes so a bit of a cheat really), I got three meals.
Not bad for less than a pound each.
But you want to know the best bit?
All ingredients in red are classed as Speed Foods and there was only ONE SYN for the entire meal.
That was because I used gravy granules (stock cubes are classed as free).
