Red, yellow, white (and green?)

Veggies, I must have veggies!
My scales are climbing Everest, and it’s only been a couple of days!
Cue Stew.
Two day stew, big pan, big veggies, plenty of stock, and to show willing, the fresh crusty bread bit the dust several stews ago.
vegWe were after a stewpack today, and ……………………… the shelf was empty!
Two supermarkets, no stewpacks!
What is going on? Not everyone can be veggie mad surely?
Slimming World is popular over here yes, but has everyone suddenly signed up?
sw quote 2Third supermarket, and no stewpacks.
BUT
Salvation was at hand!
Carrots (1kg), swede (each), parsnips (1 kg), onions (1kg), potatoes (1kg), all at 19p.
Yes, just 19p. We bought a pack of everything and a swede.

But do the math:

Stewpack 1.5 kg weight cost £1.59p last week.

Today’s bargain 4.5 kg for less than a pound (95p).
That’s my kind of budget!
stew-2Note:
There were also bags of sprouts and broccoli at 19p but somehow I don’t think taking the lid off the pressure cooker to view green balls looking up at me would be very appealing, so we’re saving those for our next ‘proper dinner’ with chops and all the other trimmings.

  1. I always go to veggies when I feel like I have eaten too much. It’s cleansing without all the awful stuff you drink. I have to ask…what is a swede?
