Lost Love

I raise my eyes to the heavens
In the hope of seeing the sun
Bring forth another dawn, another day
Yearning for you to come,
Or send word that you are thinking of me,
Just one or two to know you care.
The constant emptiness and ache
Of this pain, one impossible to share.
My tears flow silent and unseen,
My heart laden with such weight
Of the sorrowful acceptance that
Perhaps for us it’s too late.
Too many misunderstandings
Left to fester and destroy the tie
That held us united as kindred spirits,
Only to fade and die
As the last rays are swallowed
By the earth at sunset.
I sit alone and troubled
How could I forget?
Another day has passed,
Just one of many in a year,
Never far from my thoughts,
It is the only way I can hold you near.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and have a terrible sweet tooth. Best friends are Hubby, our dog Maggie, Bro in NZ, MSM and MOH (and his dog). I am also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we were once again house hunting until September. We now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
