It was a dark and stormy night

Bernadette has challenged her followers with this prompt this week.
Check out her original post here:

dark-and-stormy-nightIt was a dark and stormy night as the little plane stayed on course thanks to the skill of Jim and his co-pilot. Not only had the weather been against them, but they’d suffered a lightning strike resulting in engine trouble.
Both were therefore relieved to see the lights of home after one of the worst flights they had ever experienced.
The outline below was familiar, yet something was vaguely different as two pairs of tired but determined eyes focused on the runway lights on their approach in the misty gloom.

Suddenly, invisible forces snatched away control.
Spiralling down to smash into the choppy waters, the two men watched helplessly in shock, horror and awe as the head rose on its scaled body.
The curve of light erupted into flame, belched from the nostrils of the Sleeping Beast as it took them into its belly, roused by the annoying pitch of the engine’s whine.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and have a terrible sweet tooth. Best friends are Hubby, our dog Maggie, Bro in NZ, MSM and MOH (and his dog). I am also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we were once again house hunting until September. We now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.

Boy oh boy, this post illustrates graphically that when your ticket is punched it’s punched. Thanks for participating.
