Life’s Simple Pleasures

To hear the birds in the tree tops
Or the ducks on the water around,
To witness the beauty of Autumn
The gold, reds and browns on the ground
Are a carpet of Nature’s making,
Such beauty for all here to share,
A smile from new friends in the making,
And knowing so many who care.
Warmth and coziness abundant,
Together in close harmony,
Full bellies, the kettle is boiling
For that welcome cup of tea.
No noise to disturb our musings,
The marina so peaceful at night,
The sky of dark velvet is speckled
With stars twinkling diamond-like light.
The moon glistens silver above us,
So bright, like a beacon it shines
Illuminating the shadows
Of swans swimming neatly in line.
The voice of a loved one calling
From so far across the sea,
The dog as she lazily snoozes
On the bench here by my left knee.
Nothing you could put a price on
Yet priceless to me every day,
To love and be loved is the ultimate,
There’s little more I can say.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and have a terrible sweet tooth for jelly babies or fruit pastilles. Best friends are Hubby, our dog Maggie, Bro in NZ, MSM and MOH (and his dog). I am also a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! Due to a nightmare of a house sale in 2014, 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat until April 2017. We made strong friendships both on and off the water, and enjoyed swan and duck families for neighbours. Sadly times change and we were once again house hunting until September. We now reside in a small bungalow a short distance from the beach on the Lincolnshire coast.
