Second Hand Rose

Anyone who knows me, knows I love flowers.
Hubby doesn’t need a reason to buy them, he just does, which makes me feel even more special.

One of our boating friends was going away for a few days, and had bought herself some flowers earlier in the week as she was feeling a little down.
Rather than throw them away when they still had a lot of life left in them, she brought them round to me, hoping I wouldn’t be offended at them being ‘second hand’.
Far from it actually, as they were a large and colourful bouquet containing a variety of blooms including chrysanths, large daisies and ‘cabbage roses’.
Neither of us had ever seen one before and wondered what it was, so I looked it up on the internet.
They are called Brassica and are quite lovely, having a thick stem and multiple petals.

They all lasted well over a week, and when we threw them away, Hubby bought me some red carnations, simply because he saw them.
Nice to be thought about and loved isn’t it.
