This double glazing lark is proving to be a bit of a game. We have explored several outlets for our ‘cling film’ and when we asked a member of staff, were met with blank, confused or even patronising stares! There was a gap on the shelf in one, too expensive and an empty rack anyway in a second, and the classic response to my question was ‘I’m only paid to fill the machine’.
Speaking with one of our boating friends earlier in the week, they said they were going to use magnetic tape to do theirs, and we gave this some considerable thought.
Enough to actually go out and buy reels and reels of the stuff, plus 4 meters of suitable plastic table protector for the job at hand. It sort of worked, but not well enough for what we wanted, and we had a small hitch with the poles of the tape repelling each other at the corners.
They are away on holiday at the moment, so it will be interesting to see how they resolve any problems.
At least we were able to get a refund and could move on to another idea.
That was definitely not cost-effective at £26 a sheet for which we would need 6, but we have another solution in the wings (read bathroom shower cupboard) from a tried and failed porthole scenario which should work on our houdini hatch which is the main problem at the moment. I already have plenty of double-sided padded tape in my craft box.
In the meantime, we are keeping an eye open for the cling film packs, hoping that they will become available shortly. As soon as they are, we will be buying at least 10 so that we won’t have this problem next year!
Are the packs available online?
Sadly no, and an alternative that was, cost twice as much with P&P than the cost of what we needed.
