Thursday Photo Prompt – Caged– #writephoto

Thanks Sue over at Daily Echo for another thought-provoking prompt this week.

I had two ideas from the prompt and couldn’t decide so did both. Hope this is OK.

Take One:

The two adults looked at each other with dismay.
‘They said at the pet shop he’d talk’.
”Yeah right. Well he isn’t now is he?’
‘They also said that this particular breed didn’t mind being on their own’.
‘Sure. But what about the cage?’
‘They told me it was perfectly adequate as they prefer to be upright and couldn’t fly’.
‘Well he’s not doing anything now is he? He’s dead!’
‘I suppose it’s ironic in a way then, as this was how Humans treated our ancestors, you know, the budgies and parrots.’

With a fluff of tail feathers, the two giant Golden Eaglespreys turned away.

Take Two:

Her husband had told her he had a special surprise for her.
Full of excitement, the cheating wife thought of furs and jewels, or a new car to show off to her latest lover.
‘Close your eyes and take my hand,’ he said. ‘Be careful and mind the step’.
Eagerly she lifted her foot and made to sit down but her knees hit something solid.
She heard the clang of metal against metal and opened her eyes with a start.
She was locked in a cage and watched helplessly as her husband turned to leave.
‘What the hell are you doing?’ She screamed. ‘What is this??’
‘It’s one step up from a chastity belt.’ he replied closing the door behind him.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
