The Day after ……………….. the BBQ

It was a good evening last night, well supported with a mixture of people.
We set up half a dozen chairs or so by the little wall so that we could give the dogs some shade, and were joined by Tuppy, Thug and Sally. We ended up with a group of about fourteen of us humans, adding chairs as and when someone decided to join us.
Conversation was varied and plentiful, and the food was really good.
bbq foodThis was our first BBQ here as the one we attended last year was put on by the Residents.
We didn’t know some of the faces last night, but everyone chatted to everybody else, so no-one felt left out or like the proverbial wallflowers.
There were plenty of bread rolls, burgers and sausages, barbecued skinless chicken chunks, kebabs, and buckets of salad, cheese and onions, including Hubby’s favourite, coleslaw. I am usually wary of chicken wings or drumsticks at BBQs as they tend to upset me, so I was glad neither of these were on offer. Everything was well cooked, and if anyone went hungry, well quite honestly, it was their own fault.
We’d all brought our own drinks (soft drinks for us) and our guest tucked in too.
We left just after 10pm, but conversations were still going, and all the leftover food had been put in the laundry ready for the staff to pick over today.  **
Actually, we saw several people popping in to ‘check on their post’ and coming out with a bad fist of burger or sausages after the caterers had packed up and left.

Seeing some of the attendees eventually surface this morning, we believe quite a few bottles of vino were drunk, late nights were had, and there were hangovers aplenty.

We made a point of going into the office to thank the staff for organising the event for us berth holders.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
