Today we walked up to the Abbey to light candles for our Dads.
I hope they are not even more confused having had candles lit for them in two places in the Cathedral yesterday as well.
There was a service about to start in The Lady Chapel, so we went to our second place.
The above pictures were taken last year, and these below taken today.
As we sat quietly watching the flames flicker, we could hear the children singing in the Lady Chapel, and thought how pleased our Dads would be.
My second picture is dark despite the flash, but you can still see our candles on the back of the stand shining brightly.
I was inspired to write this:
Out of the dark came light,
A symbol of love so bright
Nothing will see it end
To you Dad, my love I send.
You are with me every day,
And if I ever had to pray
It would always be the same
That you linger within the flame
Of light shining to me in the dark,
Warming forever in my heart.
Twenty years have passed, and I miss you still.
They won’t be confused. Just think of it as stereo lighting…. they’ll love it! 🙂
Knowing the pair of them, probably!
How very nice and comfortable. Wish we had such places close by.
It was indeed.

Lighting candles is a lovely way to remember them. My Dad died 22 years ago, and like you, there are still times you think of them especially. But they are in your genes and how they raised you, and special little moments.
