Silver Bells

Today we celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary (and some said it wouldn’t last, HA!)

Hubby is telling everyone if he’d committed a felony in 1991, he would be getting out about now.
Who would have thought that a ten pound ad in the local paper would lead to this?

Twenty Five years ago we were awake and up early knowing it was going to be an important day. The picture is the Book of Our Life I put on his pillow that morning.
After our registry office ceremony, it was down to a pub’s function room for a celebratory meal before leaving our (seven) guests to get a bus to the train station for our honeymoon in Amsterdam. What a night! (You can read about it here and here)
book 1Twenty Five years later we were awake and up early, as both of us had blood tests this morning. Mine was a fasting one, so it was a coffee and bacon butty breakfast after.
I’ve got the starting of a bruise, and I’ve had an allergic reaction to the dressing (seems I bled quite a bit after the needle removal).

Not being ‘party people’ we are inviting our friends (and Tuppy) in for a chinese takeout tonight to mark the occasion, and we have been given cards from fellow boaters and well wishers, which has been a very pleasant surprise. Hubby has strung them up over the floor cupboard which is home to 15 red roses and our cards to each other.
I purchased a 25th Anniversary candle which has been put on our knick knack shelf after a bit of reorganisation.

60th birthdayIn two days, I shall become a Sexagenarian as I catch up with Hubby, who is a little sad as he won’t be going to bed with a younger woman for a few months!
We are going away for one night to enjoy the luxuries of a hotel, complete with bath and bubbles, and a meal out in a proper restaurant. Maggie is staying with the friend we house sat for and already knows where the biscuit tin is and that it will be OK for her to sleep on the bed. She will be spoilt rotten (and knows it).
round dogWe are both taking time out, so the laptops will be staying behind and the mobiles switched off.
I’ll be back in a few days, but here are some funnies to mark the coming event:

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
