Squatters

We’ve been here almost 2 years and finally the marina has got its CCTV sorted.
We overheard The Boss and The Guy discussing the matter, sites for the cameras, and cost.
Ouch. Wish Hubby had been asked.
cctvFor security reasons obviously I am not going to say where the cameras are.

Anyway, in the pouring rain, The Guy was digging a hole to plant a post upon which to mount a camera.
Two days later, all was in position and connected up, so the rain felt obliged to stop.
There had to be a shuffle in the car park to align the view correctly,  some knit one purl one of dangling wires to overhead cables to make it all look tidy, and a bit of heavy duty pruning to a rampant bush which wanted to hog the entire show as The Star Attraction.

The Boss is not happy.
Two pigeons have built a nest on top of one of the cameras.
We have seen one taking in ‘nesting materials’ for an extension or attic room, so obviously they are planning on having a big family.
woodysWhat makes it even more amusing (to us, oh and everyone else here except The Boss) is that their des res has Central Heating (the camera generates heat) and Colour TV (the birds just have to bend forward and they fill the lens).
They also have a sun roof, manicured lawns (the maintenance man has recently cut the grass), a pool (the marina of course) and exclusive privacy (he can’t get at them!).
We think their carpets and microwave are being delivered next week.

Nay. The Boss is not amused!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. And some environmental regulation will prevent anyone from discouraging the pigeons? (who are spreading the word about their good luck to extended family)
    Thanks for the chuckles

  2. Hooray for the pigeons! Someone should have given this project a little more “think” time.

  3. Pigeons: at home anywhere. These ones have found a particularly inviting home, though!

  4. Birds aren’t stupid. Free heat, free food, privacy – sounds good to me.
