One more Night

Classic song that, from 1985, the album being Phil Collins ‘No Jacket Required’.

phil collins 2But this is nothing to do with my post.
We have just one more night here as our host returns tomorrow.

Today, after having our eye tests (and yes I need new specs),  we went shopping for basics and a nice big bunch of flowers to welcome her home.

The washing is done, as is the ironing, so everything is nice and clean for her return.
We’ve gone through the house today, generally tidying up (not a lot to do actually) and hoovering behind chairs, settees and bedside cabinets.
Hubby cleaned the bathroom and I cleaned the downstairs loo.
Tonight before we retire, we’ll wash the floors in the conservatory and kitchen.
All to be done tomorrow will be to strip the bed of our linens and make it up with hers, do the final touches of housework, and prepare a cauliflower cheese for lunch.

We have been in regular contact via email, and our host has been disappointed that she’s had no snow whatsoever for the duration of her stay. Apparently, it is forecast for the week after her departure.
On learning this, we decided to buy her a small gift.
We found a snow globe where you add your own photographs, so she can have some DIY snow filled memories.
The weather here is still wet and raining heavily again, but the temperature is dropping and according to the newspaper headlines, an arctic blast is heading our way. Great (not).

It’s been interesting, but even after 6 weeks, we still cannot get used to all this space, and are looking forward to returning to the confines and familiarity of the boat, and Home.

Home awaits

However, if asked, we would do it again.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
