Just a little tilt

And I don’t mean the boat still needs balancing (this is in hand already).
The DIY is going great, though we made one itsy bitsy misjudgement with a cushion which has now been rectified ( or will be by the end of tomorrow).

Hubby did a brilliant job of modifying one of the original bench cushions to make two for our new seating area. As what was needed was less than an exact half, he was able to use the seat cover as well, and they looked really good.
Basically though, we got the size wrong as it was a bit of a balancing act keeping your bum on the seat, and leaning back was totally out of the question, so that was more of a tilt actually.

Sadly, we’d jumped the gun a bit and already disposed of the other cushion, which even though it could be retrieved out of the bin, what had been dumped on top of it was definitely not flavourful or aromatic, so we are buying a new piece of foam and will cover it with some of the material we have in reserve from the original mattress cover.
Still, we do not class this as a failure (neither was this), just an unfortunate miscalculation.

Today has been spent enlarging the seat and putting a small bookcase underneath it.
Hubby’s done a smashing job and the books we kept fit in there nicely.
Tomorrow he’ll be making another shelving unit for our DVDs and CDs.
Hubs came up with the idea of putting them all in wallets to save room. I didn’t understand exactly what he meant at first but yesterday we purchased 2 folders, each holding up to 208 DVDs or CDs, so we haven’t had to get rid of any.
cd walletLast night we put them all in the folders, keeping our ‘sets’ in one and miscellaneous and CDs in the other. We have oodles of room left, the bin is now full of cases and anyone finding them might think they’ve struck gold until they discover they’re all empty!

Finding a small chair is proving a serious problem with the space we actually have available. We have some ideas on that though, and I think we’re up to Plan E now.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. I’m still old school, but I hear a lot of people are putting all their CDs onto Ipods and saving lots of space that way. Being technologically backward, I don’t know if DVDs can be handled that way, too. I do know that I am going to have to learn how to put all my CDs on an iPod

  2. We just went through all our DVDs and have a stack to donate to the thrift store. It is funny how movies that used to be favorites are now movies I do not care for.

We have all our music on MP3 players now, too. When we moved cross-country, we sold most of our hard copy CDs. Isn’t getting rid of stuff awesome? I love less clutter.
