Following on from my cringeworthy post (no more puns here, I promise), here is the almost finished fencing.

As you can imagine, the lads weren’t pleased to find themselves short, so MOH went to the garden centre and came back with a roll of screening he thought would fill the hole.
Two things wrong, it was bamboo cane not willow, and it was only 3 feet high, not 4.
He thought he could simply turn it sideways and paint it to match.
Miss Fussy here said it would look dreadful (Hubby agreed), and he should take it back for a full refund as it was unsuitable for the job.
Meanwhile, Hubby had gone to get a tape measure, pen and paper and was drawing up an alternative.
I’ve said on MANY occasions that Hubby is useful. He is also resourceful, practical, and if he does a job, he does a good one.
I am so proud!

Yes, Hubby made a custom made panel for the job with featherboards, and then stained it with the last of the tin of coloured protector already used on the corner. It is properly supported on the other side by fence posts.
Mr Houseowner is gobsmacked at the end result.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes!
In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too.
On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts.
From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives.
We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
Looks pretty good to me. π

Measuring too short — I’ve done it before too, but the outcome is pretty spectacular! Thank you so much for pointing me to these posts! They’re fantastic π€
The fence is still standing!
Nice!! I’m assuming the neighbor sold the house with no issues once this was completed π
Not at all, and MOH got a good fence to tidy up his garden too!
Yay!
