Cross Quiz

I read an article on Yahoo yesterday about a couple’s response to being pestered about when they were going to have a baby (Headline: Congratulations, it’s a Puppy), and it got me thinking……….
Not about babies, but cross breeds.

1. Groodle : the puppy in question, a cross between a golden retriever and poodle.
2. Labradoodle:  labrador cross poodle.
3. Sprocker: cocker and springer spaniel cross.
4. Lolly: labrador cross collie.
5. Grippet: greyhound cross whippet.
6. Bastie: bassett cross westie *.
7. Springador: labrador cross springer spaniel.
8. Cockerpoo: cocker spaniel cross poodle.
9. Masador: mastiff cross labrador *
10. Maggie!

She’s a Sprollie (springer spaniel cross collie)

don’t know if these two exist, but I have seen a bassett cross shar pei (very weird) and a mastiff mix, so why not?

There must be loads more out there, fact or fiction, cats too (don’t even think about frogs and ducks).
Anyone care to add?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

A friend just mentioned another mix last weekend… actually it was the now 16 year old son who told the story about how he had to explain what breed their dog was years ago (I believe he was 10 then). The dog was a cross mix between a Shizu and a Poodle. The breed was called a Shizpoo…

We considered getting a “sproodle” before we got our mutt, Duncan. An English Springer Spaniel/poodle cross. But then I realized that really, I just wanted to call my dog a sproodle because I like the way it sounds. I’m not at all into poodles!

Duncan is a “sprausauge” — a springer, australian shepherd and whatever. I just now made that up. And he looks very much like maggie. There are pictures in here:

    • Duncan is gorgeous. It seems that springers are quite popular mixes. We wanted Maggie to have pups but couldn’t find a nice ‘daddy’ (we’d be advised by the vet to be careful as regards size of the sire as she was so small). By the time we did, a lovely little sprocker called Arlo, Maggie was too old.

Thought I’d reblog this for a bit of fun.
No, this is not the picture we’re using for Maggie’s canvas.

  4. Oh, to pet that silky coat…beauty
