Cross Saturday

This will be short as I’m having all sorts of problems with my blog today.
Everything is taking  S  O    L  O  N  G, it’s like trying to wade through some giant trifle in snow shoes.
Then when it does load, it flicks back a page, or scrolls down the screen, or jumps out of my reader or reverts to those three little words.

It took me over half an hour to get my previous post out in the blogosphere.
I lost connection to WP four times in five minutes (nothing to do with the WIFI connection here for a change) then everything just ‘stopped’ when I tried to publish.

Hubby is tapping away merrily over on the other side of the boat.
Could be lots of reasons:
Maybe he’s getting better reception ?
Is his dangle at a better angle?
Maybe he’s talked nicely to his laptop instead of swearing at it.
He’s always telling me Computers know fear. Maybe his is too terrified to play him up.

Time for a cuppa, then I’ll do the accounts. Don’t need the internet for either of those.
HA! Take That!!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Good luck getting back online – I cannot handle slow Internet. I would rather do something else than wait. Perhaps patience is not my greatest virtue…

    • know where you’re coming from. There are a lot of people here in the marina this weekend, and if they are all watching TV…………… well, you can guess why things are almost static! 🙂

  2. Capt Jill says:

I hope things get better for you soon! I know exactly where you’re coming from. My computer has been giving me FITS the last few days. It keeps telling me it’s FULL. I have no way to fix it here, so I keep trying to delete things every time it tells me that. Also keeps locking up and dropping out of internet explorer.
I decided to change my blog from free to paid .com and now it looks like I have to start all over from scratch! Ai-yi-yi! It took me forever to figure out how to get things done the 1st time! Now I have no header photo or gravatar on the ‘new’ blog. No about me page (or any other pages). NOTHING there but my “first” post!! I hope to hell this is not really how it’s going to work. Just too depressing. Over 2 years of hard work! All gone???

    • Hubby showed me how to do a back up exporting the file which was quite straightforward until WP decided to send you an email with a link for you to pick it up! Hope you can find your originals.

  3. Yikes, P. Okay, there does seem to be something wrong, as this is the third time I’m trying to post my response.
I’m so sorry to hear of the problems – have you tried contacting someone at WP in the support forums? I go there with more frequency than I wish I did. They’re a bit like family now. And I think they see me coming.
    Don’t give up!

    • We’re pretty convinced it’s the sheer number of people here using the internet through the marina’s WIFI system that’s making things so slow. Also, since we’ve been here, we’ve identified patterns and have a rough idea when backups are being done, if anyone is working (or playing games) late, and what time the ‘soaps’ are on. The UK are soap happy (Eastenders, Emmerdale, Corrie) not to mention the reality (??) shows such as Big Brother, Master Chef, I’m a Celebrity, Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor etc etc. It’s no wonder we kicked our TV into touch all those years ago, yet many people are hooked on such programmes.
As for WP, they are continually working on something behind the scenes, having again revamped the already revamped and reviewed new reader. I’m not giving up. I’m just getting tired, so finding other things to do that don’t need a link up. Cards and scrabble come to mind immediately!! 🙂 To be honest, it hasn’t been too bad this afternoon, but now that everyone has come back after their boat trips up river ……………………………….
