Guilty Conscience?

I was once asked what my reaction would be if my husband were to suddenly buy me flowers completely out of the blue for no apparent reason.
My reply was that I’d thank him and put them straight in water.
This confused a lot of people at the monthly Ladies Group meeting I was attending as most admitted they would have been immediately on their guard thinking all kinds of guilt ridden scenarios.
guilty consI found it sad that so many had so little faith in their partners that they would automatically think the worst, or such a simple loving act came with strings attached.
Some even thought I was naive and foolish to NOT think there was a reason behind it.
Maybe. Maybe not.ย  But what I do know is that if Hubby buys me flowers, it’s because he wants to, not because he thinks he should.

I love roses, they are one of my favourite flowers, elegant, fragrant and lovely to behold.
They bring forth some very fond memories, some tinged with sadness, and when my father died, although we had a Family Tribute (a beautiful arrangement and variety of brightly coloured flowers including roses), Hubby and I put two single red buds on the coffin as we said our final Goodbye.
When my father-in-law died, we did the same.
When my brother-in-law passed away, it was requested for donations to a chosen charity rather than flowers, but I placed 2 yellow roses on his coffin from us.

Hubby bought me these roses the other day.
For no other reason than he thought I’d like them.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
