Royalty aren’t the only ones to have a new arrival!

They’re here!
I took Maggie up for a wee this afternoon and put the camera in my pocket in the hope of catching sight of the little ducklings.
Maggie didn’t perform, so I put in her in the car out of the wind and decided to do a little detour on the way to the shower block.
I admit I had my suspicions the other day when I saw Mum (or Dad) having a little shuffle on the nest, but couldn’t see anything.
I hope these pictures make you feel as euphoric as I did.

You can just see a seventh egg by the adult’s foot in the last two photos below.
This may not hatch now as the others hatched a couple of days ago.

Isn’t it wonderful?

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. YAY!!! I am so glad they have arrived! There are so many of them! Also, they really are kind of ugly ducklings – the ducklings are far more adorable. But it is definitely a great illustration of the fable!

    • I think they’re quite cute at this age, its when they start to grow that they get all gangly (bit like teenagers really!)
I wonder if a swan year is the same as a human year or if they age similar to dogs and cats in multiples of ours? šŸ™‚
