Race You

Everyone’s heard the story of the Hare and the Tortoise.
There are some great graphics available too.
hare and tortoiseBut my story is just a little different as it wasn’t exactly a race, but more of 4 wheels versus 6 legs.

Following yesterday’s outing, we’ve had a pretty quiet day today, just doing the basics and giving Maggie local walks round the Avenue and up into town coming back via the lock.
We needed bread though and the supermarket is the best value at 40p for a large 800g sliced loaf which keeps well and doesn’t ‘dry out’ after a couple of days.

In order to give Maggie her afternoon walk, I suggested that we drive up to the supermarket, I would walk her back and Hubby could drive home.
As things turned out, I walked Maggie to the supermarket with the intention of Hubby driving up, going in and getting the bread, then waiting for us before coming home.

I’m a pretty brisk walker, and admittedly I used the back roads, so the time taken was about 15 minutes to do the .98 mile walk (already checked out on previous occasions with some nifty journey calculation package on the internet. The distance to the supermarket in the other direction is 1.2 miles).
OK, Hubby had to ‘pay a visit’ before setting off, so it wasn’t as if we actually started at the same time.

However, I rounded the corner at the back of the supermarket in time to see him pull into a parking space! Guess he got held up in traffic.

Note: these graphics are irrelevant to my story, I just liked them!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
