Hooker Shorts

pastyArmed with cups of coffee and a hot pasty fresh out of the oven,  we sat on ‘our bench’ by the traffic lights and People Watched.
It’s always interesting and sometimes an unintended theme presents itself, such as everyone has a dog, family groups, more single people, or surprisingly, a dress code!

Today was Shorts Day.
Hubby said all the flashing of elderly knees would probably play havoc with my blood pressure and the vision of the younger men thus attired with bare feet in sandals or flip-flops (exposing some horrible toes by the way) was likely to turn my head!
(Come to think of it, he had that Mona Lisa moment, enigmatic smile and all that, as he looked hopeful 😉 )
As for the shapes of the female wearers……………my, they had more courage than me.

I can’t remember the last time I wore shorts.
Probably on a camping holiday years ago where nobody knew me and way before we moved to Lincolnshire.
I have pictures of me in pink, black or floral somewhere in these collages.

I’ve always been on the chunky side in the leg department, and the thought of half of my backside hanging out of my knickers, well doesn’t bear thinking about.
Mind you, since losing the weight the cheeks aren’t so rounded, but I still wouldn’t wear shorts now or even a short skirt for that matter.

Trivia note:
Barbara Windsor, Felicity Kendall, Suzi Quatro, and Lulu won the title of Rear of the Year in the 80s. In 1986, Michael Barrymore was the first male to receive the title, with Anneka Rice taking the female crown that year, and Carol Vorderman is the only celebrity (so far) to win this accolade twice (2011 and 2014).

Watching a couple of twenty-something girls today, either they had no idea how they looked from the back, or they had every idea how they looked from the back and were ‘advertising’.
For us though, seeing more ass out of fabric than in was a complete turnoff and Hubby was far from impressed.
Actually, his exact words were ‘Bloody hell. That’s gross!’

Of course we all remember Kylie Minogue in those hot pants.kylieLet’s say Kylie was modestly contained in comparison (you get my drift).

That reminds me:
Someone once asked me what was the first thing I noticed about a man, to which I replied ‘Depends whether he’s walking towards me or away.’  😀

eyes n assI so love this pic!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I find myself in total mental conflict whenever I see people inappropriately dressed! Do I feel sorry for them because they look quite ridiculous, or do I admire them for not dressing by somebody else’s standards? Should I be sad because they clearly “don’t have a clue”, or happy because they must have one very healthy self image. Such are the turmoils that I find myself in!

  2. Ha! That last line cracked me up – I may have to use it!
