Very nice. Having spent numerous years in caravans, I am very familiar with the “maximizing space” concept! It looks you have a front and rear deck (=2 gardens!); living area + kitchen; toilet/shower; and bedroom. What more could you possibly want? Lovely looking boat! 🙂
Thanks! We call our bow The Conservatory, and the helm The Mud Room. Getting the covers was priority for the winter, and have proved a godsend, especially as getting aboard, you come directly into ‘the bedroom’. Until they were fitted, we got a little wet when it rained and it was a game getting us, the dog, and our coats dry!
We arrived here at the end of July, so it wasn’t too bad. We’re pleased with her anyway, she’s comfortable and we have everything we need.
Wonderful! Enjoy! Assuming you may not want to advertise your exact location to the world, what part of the country are you in? River/Canal name?
We’re on a river in the Midlands, though we can get to canals too if we wish (need to fork out for an additional licence though)
You have everything you need – like a mini flat – but looks like you have to be ship-shape to keep everything tidy. 🙂
It comes with the territory of living in a small space. No room for clutter or excess baggage, possessions or even food! Everything has a place and we’re doing OK.
You’re doing more than OK 🙂 You only have to look at Maggie to see 🙂
She’s quite content bless her. Mind you, she’s still getting her walks every day (we’ve just come back from her third!) and the final wee is still between 9 and 10pm. It’s funny, but any later and she seems confused!!!
haha Dogs really are creatures of habit 🙂
I am highly impressed at your ability to live in such a small space! (Also, I have been quite curious about your boat for a while now – this is great to get a better idea of what it is like!).
Glad you like it. It was a bit daunting at first, but we offloaded all of the unnecessary stuff, and it’s surprising how little we really need.
Perhaps someday I will be able to do something similar – when we were moving, I began to realize how little I actually need, but how much I have. (Note: all the shoes fell into “need”). I was thinking of starting the big purge with books – something I have huge trouble getting rid of, but with e-books, how many do I actually need? There are a few I have and re-read often, but beyond that, they just gather dust.
We knew we were going to downsize from our 3 bed, 2 reception cottage, but had no idea we’d end up here. When we sold the house, we got everything, including my peugeot 206 car, into a 20 foot shipping container. Then we had to go through the lot again to transport what was left in our two cars, then another purge as we still had too much!
Never had a thing about shoes, in fact I hate that and clothes shopping of any description!
We have a 10×20 storage shed storing things until we get a house – and a 10×10 shed. And an extra bedroom at the apartment (and the apartment for that matter). And three cars. Obviously, we are not currently downsizing!
And the clothes and shoes would get me – I love them for myself almost as much as I love them for Choppy!
Sounds like Choppy’s wardrobe is quite large then!
It took up five rather large bins – it *might* be slightly out-of-hand.
haha!
Awsome digs!
thanks!
That type of house has been my dream since a kid, I think you can fit one more person there….can I move in?
By the way great poetry I read earlier on, glad you stumbled upon one of my posts
Welcome to my blog, glad to have you aboard, even if it is by proxy sotospeak. Our boat is a 41 footer, and just 6’10 wide, but she’s home and we’re comfortable.
Hope you find things of interest here as like you I write about different things (boat, dog, budgets, memories, family, nature etc and the odd poem). Sorry to read of the loss of your dog.
Thank´s about the dog.
I did notice later on that you write about a whole array of things which are quite interesting so with more time I´ll explore more of your blog.
Have a great weekend.
You too.
You and Maggie have a wonderful home.
Thank you. We are very comfortable and cosy, and Hubby looks after us very well in keeping us that way!
