Just click your heels…………

wiz of oz yellow brick road
I remember my Dad taking me to The Tatler picture house to see The Wizard of Oz.
I was about 8, and Dad said it was his duty and part of my ‘education’ to ensure I saw this classic film (I think my Dad had a thing about Judy Garland actually, as he knew all the words and songs from a lot of her films, and I mean, A LOT).
Ms Garland (June 10 1922 – June 22 1969) was a mere 16 when she starred in this 1939 fantasy movie, and if you have NEVER seen it, you really should. It lost out for Best Picture that year to Gone with the Wind but won Best Original Song for Over the Rainbow.
I have heard many versions of this (some were sacrilege), but the best cover in my opinion was by Eva Cassidy (February 2, 1963 – November 2, 1996).
rainbowOur Friend is on the road to recovery and in much better spirits than a week ago.
After cleaning the house and doing the laundry, we left around 11.30 and headed home.
It’s been raining here, but after doing a little bit of shopping, we unloaded the car and got everything into the boat without getting wet.
A quick boost with the central heating soon took the chill off, the kettle went on, and our microwave cottage pie went in.
red shoesWe haven’t had to click our heels three times and say ‘There’s no place like Home’ repeatedly to get here in a jiffy, but we did make good time as traffic was flowing and once on the motorway, it was only an hour.
But, pleasant though it’s been to have space, watch TV if we wanted, cook on my old cooker, sleep in a full size bed and push a hoover around every day instead of using a dustpan and brush whilst looking after our Friend, there really is No Place Like Home.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

This is true – there really is no place like home 🙂
And I agree on the Eva Cassidy rendition of Over the Rainbow too. If it isn’t Judy singing it, then Eva is a good second 🙂
