This time last year, I was on crutches.
This year, I have just got back from walking the dog.
Well, I say ‘just’, when in truth I have walked the dog, emptied our loo cassette and swept through the boat whilst Hubby’s been doing the laundry.
Valentine’s Day for us is like any normal day. We don’t ‘do’ cards (unless I’ve made one), chocolates or flowers as a rule as we are angered by the profiteering that goes on at this time. Anyway, we don’t need a Special Day to say ‘I Love You’. Every day is special and full of love, just varying degrees!
Hubby insisted I treat myself to a bunch of daffs for 99p a couple of weeks ago.
They were tiny tight green torpedo buds and the label said guaranteed to last 5 days. Well, mine lasted 10, so definitely good value for money.
The crocuses are coming up in the Avenue. By the bus stop they are all yellow, but further up by the cut out they are purple. By the Space Ship tree they are yellow and white, and it looks like there will be a huge show of daffodils in a week or so as the bright green blades are like miniature spears pointing up to the sky.
We may have a take out to celebrate the day, but it’s more than likely I’ll cook something, though I did promise a hot breakfast this morning. With midday approaching, I shall combine the two and if this beautiful sunshine holds, we shall be walking along the lock this afternoon.
Who knows, we may find our way to the tea rooms and settle down for a coffee and a slice of homemade cake. Now that is definitely a treat!
Sounds the prefect day to me 🙂
Totally agree with the sentiments expressed. Why should we let commercialism dictate that we only celebrate on one day a year? If you only express appreciation for someone annually on a specified day, I would have to question the relationship! Have a wonderful day (well at least what’s left of it where you are! 🙂
Thanks, you too.
I’ve just got back from a 2 and a half mile walk (no tea and cake, they were shut!), so I’m stretched out on the bench with my feet up, coffee in one hand, a bar of chocolate in the other, with a shattered dog at my feet! 🙂
The end of a perfect day! 🙂
