Whispers in the night
On the gentle breeze
Of Summer:
Calling to me softly,
Teasing me out of sleep.
Voices in my head
Tormenting me
Always,
Never letting me rest
Or return to slumber deep.
Hands reaching out
Clutching, pushing, pulling
Me down into the pit where
Terror makes me fight.
Panic sets the pulse in my brain
Echoing round my body,
They are haunting me,
Taunting me,
Laughing at my inner pain.
On waking
I’m shaking,
Unnerved
By something lurking
In shadows just above,
Leaving me crying,
Afraid of dying,
Wanting
Comfort and closeness,
I turn and reach for you
My Protector,
My Love.

Aw – Nightmares are So real and So horrid. Even after waking, the fear stays with you a while. Glad you have someone to protect you 🙂
