Bedsocks and Broomsticks

bedI remember Bedknobs and Broomsticks from the 1970s, one of the many Disney part animated offerings that were very popular at the time.

But my title is not a typo, I’m talking about the wonders of bed socks and the aid of a broomstick to keep warm.

bed socksBed socks are not exactly the sexiest piece of attire, especially in the bedroom, and I suppose you could argue that in the dark it doesn’t really matter.
However, we have had several cold nights and whilst out shopping, I discovered lovely thick bed socks that could also be worn as slippers as they had those sucker things on the bottom.
I didn’t hesitate and bought two pairs.
Because they are identical and it’s not exactly clear if they are actually two different sizes, I put tags of red cotton in mine. They are perfect for sitting with our feet up on these cold evenings, and Hubby is perfectly content to wear his in bed. He also wears a woolly hat on his head, so as far as sex appeal goes, well……….. there’s not much I can say really, just that I’m on the lookout for a night shirt.

Today, we finally got round to putting up the curtain at the helm door.
We didn’t have to modify the throw over we’d bought apart from doubling it over and putting a hem on the top to push the pole through.
I’d already purchased the broomstick from one of the pound shops in town along with a few other things for presents to take Down South yesterday.
The young lad behind the counter (he seems to be the one to serve me every time I go in so we are halfway on first name terms, ie. I know his thanks to his name tag) was very apologetic about not having a bag big enough for the broom.
I told him not to worry, as I’d ride it.
broomHis laughter echoed right the way to the back of the shop!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
