Birthday Boy

It’s Hubby’s birthday today. Not telling you how old, but he’s older than he was yesterday.

birthday candlesWe have been so busy today, walking the dog together first thing, and that’s when our planned day stopped. We all got soaked, and it’s been raining most of the day.
We wanted to do the washing, except so did everyone else and there was a queue of 3 people,ย  so we decided to go shopping first.

For some reason, poor Hubby lost all sense of direction and we ended up going round in circles. We managed to get him some slippers (my pressie to him), new socks (his pressie to himself) and some draught excluder for the bow door (pressie for the boat).

Lunch was on me, and our options were either something major and a snack for tea or a snack and then a chinese takeout for tonight.ย  We decided to have a major meal, he having roast chicken and me scampi. Not exactly expensive as we went to the supermarket cafe. Telling the lad behind the counter it was Hubby’s birthday actually got us a discount AND a free cup of latte coffee. Very nice, and even better, no washing up.
We had soup tonight with crusty bread, followed by a birthday cake of a sticky belgian bun (no candles as they could have melted the boat).

Bloody fireworks are going off again and just as we got the dog ready to go out for a wee before the next bout of rain is due to hit us in 57 minutes according to Accuweather, there was an almighty boom as some idiot let off a schmooli (parachute flare). Great.
Never mind, we put on her harness and a long lead and she performed as soon as she got to the grass at the top of the gantry, turned tail and practically dragged Hubby back to the boat!

Hubby’s not into birthdays. He prefers to act his shoe size, not his age. Still, he liked the card I made and I gave him a silly little fridge magnet with ‘Room for a Little one’ on it, which had a picture of a black and white collie lording pride of place in between the two adults in bed.
magnetVery Maggie. Very Us!

He keeps going on about a different kind of bow, one that goes round my neck.
Can’t think what he could possibly mean ๐Ÿ˜‰

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
