Hog Roast

There was a social event on the Marina last night to mark the official end of the season.

This is actually what we got (much tidier!) :

Walking the dog first, we noticed that people had provided their own drinks so decided to go across to the local garage and pick up a beer pack.
We were restricted as to what we could buy, not so much as regards our age ( 🙂 ) or cost, but
a) I have no glasses, wine or otherwise and
b) we didn’t have a bottle opener.
I carry a multitude of useful things in my handbag, but a bottle opener was not one of them (though it is now).

Tickets were £6, and for that we had entertainment in the form of a band (electric keyboard, 2 guitars and a girl playing both sax and clarinet), and were allowed 2 large rolls each with masses of meat, stuffing, crackling and apple sauce.

We settled down with a couple of friends, and then when they left, we joined another group. Conversation never waned, and we had a really good evening.
The meat was delicious and tender, the music good and the company excellent.

Maggie was well behaved and more than a few titbits ‘fell’ in her direction, though we tried not to overload her with such treats as she’s not used to rich food and the last thing we wanted was having to get up in the night to take her out.

Actually, we all slept pretty well, though I’m not sure if it was beer induced or just plain contentment.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
