One room left: diary day 3

Another sunny day, but the forecast is for heavy rain later and for most of the weekend.
As I look out of the patio doors, I can just see our veg patch. We have a healthy looking forest of onions tops, but the bulbs do not appear to be swelling as previous crops. Perhaps the rain will help. Our spuds are also doing well, and the great big patch in between? We left that as it would have had our tomatoes and green beans.

bramleysI looked at the apple tree yesterday, and it is GROANING with tiny marbles that we know will develop into huge bramleys.
Yes, the new owners will have at least 3 of their 5 a day when they move in (though I believe spuds don’t count these days) .

On to today’s task.
The last room to sort out is the kitchen, having done the bathroom yesterday whilst Hubby took the wardrobe apart, which is now tidily stacked in the ‘moving room’ with everything else to go into storage.
We elected the front bedroom as our ‘traveling room’ so everything we are taking with us camping is in there, and then the dining room has our precious stuff which our friend in Bristol is going to look after.
That way, there is no possibility of the wrong things going to the wrong place, and when it comes to storage, it will be just one room to empty, and then lock the door on.

I made a start in the larder yesterday disposing of out of date tubs, bottles and a bag of bread flour (unopened) dating back to 2008. Never did get round to having a go.
We still have the Apricot Brandy (1993) , Vodka (2004) , poor man’s Baileys, and an open quarter bottle of medicinal brandy with 2 tots missing. Oh such heavy drinkers we are.

I have an open packet of flour and some margarine, so believe it or not, I shall be making a cake this weekend!

cakeHubby has just checked the radar forecast, and we have a heavy band of nasty stuff coming our way, so it’s all systems go to get out and walk the dog. She seems a little more settled now, but still doesn’t let us far out of her sight.
Routine Baby, we’re keeping to your routine.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
